I shoot it, I cut it, I grade it — one person from the first frame to the finished file.
Kerala originally, Jeddah for work. Mostly events — film festivals, tournaments, launches — plus fashion editorial and behind-the-scenes coverage on other people's productions. Video and stills both.
It started with my own Instagram, and that's still how I cut: people leave in the first two seconds, so the best thing goes at the front.
For a few brands back home I do the whole thing — shoot it, cut it, and run the feed itself. Being the one who posts it rather than the one who hands over files changes what you shoot in the first place.
Most days it's just me and the camera. When a job needs more hands I bring in people I've worked with before. I take edit-only work too — someone else's rushes, a landscape cut that needs vertical versions, a set of photos that needs to look like one set.
How I work
- Shoot for where it's going, not for the crop
- If it's going on a feed it gets shot vertical in camera. Cropping a wide frame down to vertical throws away half the picture and it always shows.
- Deliver something postable first
- A short cut inside a day or two, while the event still matters, then the full edit after. The fast one is usually the one that gets used.
- Stay out of the way
- The best material happens whether the camera is there or not. I'd rather wait for something real than stage something that isn't.
